Bostoning it up for Ann’s wedding
Made it to Boston, MA this weekend with some of the CEMS peeps (Dan, Chongai, Janice, and Masano) for Ann’s wedding. We were all lucky enough to have the same flight out east, and even got in a few games of Five Crowns on the plane from Chicago to Boston. Picking up the rental car (Dodge Avenger) was easy, and we were lucky to have Janice’s new GPS for the drive up to Salem. Grabbed tasty grub at Fresh Taste of Asia then checked into the hotel. Made a quick run to the Bung Hole before meeting up with Ann for some drinks.
Met up with Ann at the Hawthorne Hotel for some drinks. Most of the rest of the wedding party joined us, so it was nice to have met some people before the wedding. Ann’s dad (who is also a ChemE) made it over to our part of the table for some engineering chat. And he picked up the bill, which was even sweeter.
The original plan was for us to drive into downtown Boston Saturday morning and check out the sites. However, since we had all been there before, we decided instead to drive up to Rockport, MA. We got a chance to check out some cool rocky shorelines, take some pictures, and browse some of the shops before driving back for the wedding. Also caught some crappy seafood.
Ann’s wedding was quite beautiful. The ceremony took place in a historic library in downtown Salem and the reception was across the street in the Peabody-Essex Museum. Beautiful location, lots of food and drink, and awesome music from the Beantown Swing Orchestra. Met some cool people and had a lot of fun with my peeps.
Other than that, it was a pretty quick trip and weekend. Played lots of Five Crowns, grabbed my February geocache, and generally had a blast. Pictures and map below.
